SENSORAMA Objectives

From a Unified Data Model to Real-World XR Training

SENSORAMA is guided by four connected objectives that cover the full pathway from core technology development to user validation, standardisation and responsible adoption.

Develop a synchronized multimodal data model

Create a unified and extensible framework for visual, force, tactile, thermal and auditory information. The model will support spatial alignment, temporal synchronization and open SDKs and APIs compatible with standards such as OpenUSD, OpenXR and MPEG-I Haptics.

Advance rendering, interaction and haptic devices

Improve force, tactile, thermal and spatial-audio rendering, strengthen hardware-software integration and develop more natural interaction through biofeedback, eye tracking, speech processing and AI-driven scenario adaptation. Assess the societal impacts of these technologies, including implications for privacy, mental well-being, digital inclusion, accessibility and ethical use.

Create flexible multimodal XR training applications

Integrate the project technologies into five demonstrators for surgery, dentistry, anatomy education and industrial assembly. The applications will be tested in realistic environments and refined through expert and user feedback.

Support trustworthy, open and interoperable XR:

Embed privacy, safety, diversity, inclusion and ethics into project activities. SENSORAMA will use open standards, contribute to standardisation and ensure compliance with applicable data protection and AI requirements.
