Today’s multimodal XR systems often rely on separate rendering pipelines, devices and data structures. This fragmentation makes it difficult to synchronize sensory feedback, reuse components across applications and deliver consistent experiences with the realism needed for advanced training.
SENSORAMA addresses this challenge through a two-pillar approach.
The first pillar develops the base technologies: a unified multimodal data model, low-latency synchronization, enhanced haptic devices, spatial audio, biofeedback, speech interaction and AI-driven adaptation. The second pillar validates these technologies in five use cases spanning healthcare, education and industry.
SENSORAMA envisions an open and interoperable European XR ecosystem in which developers can combine multiple sensory modalities more easily and training providers can create realistic, adaptive and trustworthy learning experiences.
The project will connect research, device innovation, software integration and user validation to deliver reusable multimodal XR building blocks. It will also embed privacy, safety, inclusion and ethical oversight throughout development and testing.
