SENSORAMA will validate its base technologies through five applications selected to test different combinations of force, touch, temperature, sound, visualisation, speech and biofeedback. Each use case will be refined with domain experts and evaluated for technical performance, usability and training value.
An existing HMD-VR simulator for total hip arthroplasty will be extended with multi-axis force and torque feedback, vibrotactile instruments, an adjustable hammering device, spatial audio, adaptive anatomies, speech interaction and biofeedback-driven scenario adaptation.
A projective AR simulator will be expanded with more vertebra models, different screw sizes and bone conditions, tactile feedback for soft tissue, realistic drilling and threading sounds, and adaptive scenario logic for varied patient conditions.
The dental simulator will combine friction modelling, automatic material representation, spatial audio based on drill-material interaction and 6-DoF force and vibration feedback. Eye tracking, biofeedback and speech input will support adaptive procedures.
A new video see-through AR application will allow medical students and citizens to explore virtual anatomy through haptic palpation, speech interaction, biofeedback and binaural sounds such as heartbeat and breathing. Different educational profiles will support specialist and general audiences.
A new VR application will transfer SENSORAMA technologies beyond medicine. Trainees will manipulate virtual tools and components using haptic devices, spatial audio, speech interaction and attention-related biofeedback, with variation in products, tools and task complexity.
